Front. 944 two bolt struts with 1303 -40mm springs and dampers (Spax). the 944 strut means that it sits 1/2" lower still so overall you get 2" of lowering. I don't like press-in ball joints so I fab'd a new TCA to accept the 944 ball joint, longer TCA would give greater camber adjustment as mine is max'd out at -1.5*. The new TCA is beefier than original being 50x30x3RHS. The top mount is 944 4-bolt as it will provide a stiffer mount. There is a cross brace between the strut tops. LH (pre-turbo) stud axle has drilling for speedo cable - just swap over the bearing cap. Std front AR bar but flipped to get better angleof attack into TCA bush. Steering arm drilled for ball joint bump steer bushes to make the steering track rod enter from the top to stop it fouling the AR bar. New stronger/longer steering track rods. New poly bushes throughout. The brakes are 944 single pots with 944 vented discs, aeroquip hose and new alloy backing plates (old ones rotted out). New bearings. Rear. 944 23.5mm TBs and new Spax dampers. Alloy training arms, which give increased track. 944 spring plates with camber adjustmen, which means a 5mm plastic washer between spring plate and TB bush for clearance. VW doughnuts with 5mm spacer in the 944 alloy TB housing, which with the 5mm washer make up the difference between 944 and 1303 outer doughnuts. 14mm 944 std rear AR bar. New polybushes throughout. The brakes are 928S4 4 pot calipers on 944T discs. BMW 5 Series rear handbrake shoes (1/2 price of Porsche). VW handbrake cable shortened and Porsche clevis brazed on. Spacers required with 944T/4 pot calipers for 15" wheels. Bias valve in rear brake line Optional extra- hydraulic handbrake. The 14mm rear AR bar will make the car slightly tail happy but that is required for Autotesting that I intend to do. Hope this helps for starters? Clive |

I forgot to add: 944 drive shafts and VW181 Trekker output flanges. Please note that the auto Porsche 924S and 944s have unequal length driveshafts so you need 924S/944 manual driveshafts. At the price I paid for the 924S undercarriage (£65) I could afford to source 944 driveshafts separately (£25 each)
The wheels are 6" teledial front 7" teledial rear both 15" dia I also swapped the steering wheel for a 944 one by de-rivetting the VW and 944 bosses and fitting the 944 to the 1303 boss with HT bolts. Clive PS there is still loads in the pipeline for further improvement but this lot will do for now. |
