Just wondering how hard these are to find, are they ahrd to rebuild, and can I fit it in a 78 stuper vert? I know upright conversion will be needed but will a porsche fanshroud work?

Not hard to find at all, they came in vans and 914s. Not hard to rebuild at all, no matter what some people say-type 4s are not voodo, just engines. Get a couple of books like the the Next Generation conversion manual, Tom Wilson's How to Rebuild Your VW Air Cooled Engine, the Haynes or Bentley 914 or bus book and a video from BugMe and go for it. Yes it will fit in a super-vert. A real Porsche shroud will not work but there are many mfg of 911 style shrouds that will work. Most engine builders feel the 911 fan is not neccessary, a good type 1 style shroud works well on most engines.
