GL bus is coming along slowly....

Finally got the front narrowed and dropped like I want. The rear comes next. Look for several other pics under Jeff K.

....uuhhmm, I guess my own kit. I've got a pair of QA1 Promastar shocks and I'm gonna try the 2000-3000lb vehicle weight progressive springs first and see how they do. I'm trying to get narrowed control arms from two different places but keep getting "give me a couple weeks"( for several months now). For the spring plate replacement, I'm going to use a 935 style of my own design with parts I sourced from Art Morrison. I've seen several different set-ups on here and have a good idea of how its done. If I can keep the critical geometry aligned, I think I can make a workable street system. This is kind of a general answer, if there's something in particular you're curious about..????

I was wondering about the spring plate design. I've got a 65 micro I just picked up, want to change to a irs rear. I've got 944 rear arms, just need the irs brakets and to figure out how to get the spring plates hooked up.

I guess I should have added.... mines already converted to IRS in the rear by the PO. All t3 stuff with the bolt on IRS brackets from Busboys I think... From what I can gather, the bolt on brackets may help me to adjust camber a little by rotating them up a few degrees ('cept they're tack welded in a couple places , time to grind).

jhelgesen, will get some today and send them to you. Files might be a little big.

vujade, didn't know if you guys had a place for buses or not. Was trying to get my "look" a little farther along and then was gonna show the VKG I could "represent" the club in true GL fashion....

oh yeah ,we have a place for busses.

we already have 2 members with busses in the construction stage.

we welcome you to join. it doesnt matter if you are still under construction. you can still hang with us at shows, chat with us at club meetings (this wed @ 9pm in the VKG chatroom) and have the beniifit of a club to help you along with your project.

Our first club outing is going to be at the South Eastern Bug Fair in Toccoa, GA next month.

Can i ask how much drop you have at the front?

Darren, thanks for the support!
I didn't take a before measurment but now it is 22 inches from the floor to the top of the wheel arch. Maybe you can compare that to yours and see how low I am. I intend to go down another inch or so once I get the rear suspension sorted.
I have dropped spindles (made by a guy here in the states) and adjusters too that I put in when I narrowed the beam 4 inches. The spindles are supposed to give 3.5 drop and I've got only one of the adjusters (the top one) adjusted up about half.
Hope this helps.

Jeff
