Matt (nearfield audio) in the uk sorted me out, it was him I purchased it from 2nd hand, but he gave me warrenty/support as if it was new due to the fact it was a known (old) manufacturing defect....

Another thought is if your using a strut brace...
Another thought is if your using a strut brace you wont have enough thread (going by your second picture)... Need at least 2 full threads exposed for strength. I could measure thickness of my strut...
