The engine/trans needs to be mounted very securely for drag starts. Any flex in the mounts will allow movement which causes wheel hop or "axle tramp". A rear engine brace will definately help.

Type 1 and type 4 engines are about equal in price to build IF you use quality parts. Type 1 can be cheaper if you use cheap parts. I don't know of any commercially available turbo exhaust headers...
